Dikran Kouyoumdjain was born in Damascus Syria on May 29, 1925 to Haig and Mary, their only child.  Even at an early age he impressed his teachers with his passion for reading and interpreting literary works both in Armenian and French.

At twenty years old, he moved to Beirut where he published his first article in the Armenian Aztag newspaper using his penname Dikran Vosgouny. In a short time he became the editor in chief of the Aztag newspaper where he worked for thirty years.

In 1950 he married Araxi Aintablian and shared a beautiful life with her, raising their two daughters Suzy and Houry and balancing family life with the demands of his political endeavors and journalistic career.

In 1976, as a result of the Lebanese civil war, Dikran Vosgouny moved with his family to San Francisco. He continued writing articles and editorials in several newspapers and became the associate editor of Nor Gyank.

In 1982 he lost his beloved wife Araxi but a few years later he was blessed with three granddaughters who were the pride of his life.

In 1989 he married Ishkhanouhi Karamardian, a devoted Armenian, and together they resided in San Francisco, enjoying their new life surrounded by family and friends.

He embraced the internet as his news media early on and established the “Vosgouny.com” web site. This web site became his passion and he developed it to become a highly visited web site by all Armenians. He manifested his passion for Armenian life through news, editorials and his book Bozauar Ma\rin;r“ (Burning Cedars).

In 2003 His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, granted him the Saint Mesrob Mashdotz Medal of Honor for his intellectual endeavors in Armenian life.
